Theatre stage lighting commonly used lighting position design

The theater is specially used to perform drama, drama, opera, song and dance, folk art, music and other entertainment places, and now the theater also has the function of film screening and large and medium-sized conferences.

Common location of theater lighting:

Top shine

Installed on the top of the auditorium outside the curtain of the stage. The light is projected from the front to the performance area in front of the stage, and the lamp position illuminating the actor's face is the surface light. It can achieve universal brightness, eliminate the "dead Angle" that is easy to produce in the picture, and also adjust the light ratio, increase or decrease the contrast, to show the role of balance and avoid local underexposure. However, if this light is not applied with the light of other light bits, it will lack the brightness level and three-dimensional sense. Therefore, the surface light can only be used as basic lighting and basic tone, and does not play the main task on the stage, and can not become the main light and the tool for shaping the image.

Low side light

The light is generally set at the front end of the second floor of the audience, which can increase the overall brightness of the front of the stage, and the floodlight can illuminate the stage and the audience near the stage. The light can provide auxiliary lighting for television broadcasting and conference news reporting, and the light is projected from both sides and the low front of the stage performance area, which is a supplement to the "face light".

Slap (outside light)

The light is thrown from the side to the lamp position of the stage performance area, which is called left and right ear light respectively. It is used to strengthen the three-dimensional sense of characters and scenery, form the front side lighting effect, and produce a molding effect. If it is properly matched with the light ratio of the dark part, it can obtain a full and powerful modeling effect. The human Angle of view is sensitive to the changes of the side light, and the side light is the main light of the character and the scene, and an important tool for modeling; To shape the main, lighting as a supplement, in order to achieve vertical lighting, horizontal not less than 2 lights. More than two rows of the same color of light are projected at the same time, the high position of the lamp is usually mainly to project the far light area, the low position of the lamp is usually mainly to project the near light area. The slap light can be installed or placed in the slap room, the slap room should not prevent the audience from passing and not block the line of sight of the side seat audience, the light shaft extends to the horizontal projection of the performance area along the edge of the frame and the horizontal Angle formed by the central axis of the stage should not be greater than 45°, so that the side seat audience can see the side frame of the platform, and does not affect the sound transmission of the platform speaker.

Platform side light

Column light is used to make up for the lack of face light and slap, choose the right lamps can also be used as a close distance light chase, and hide a line of effect lights at the entrance of the building to provide a more flexible performance means for the lighting effect in the stage. On both sides of the stage entrance curtain, the lamps are installed on the "telescopic activity platform", "vertical iron pipe" or "fixed iron frame", and the stage false platform entrance (upper piece) is provided with a light bridge, and the side piece is provided with a side light position (column light).

Ground side light (flowing light)

Flowing light is a kind of "mobile light" on the stage, usually placed on the sides of the stage in combination with the side light of the bridge or used as a molding light alone. The utilization rate of this light is very high and the modeling ability is very strong. The position of the flowing light and the Angle of the actor, from the position of the audience, form 90°. The light can highlight the surface structure of the object, and the projected light has a strong three-dimensional form.

headlight

The top light is a vertical light projected from the top down, and is not suitable for illuminating people. This light, such as the use of astigmatic lamps and soft light paper or yarn, becomes soft light, to the scene with general lighting, can play the role of "base light". It can give the scene, props, ground uniform brightness, and can appropriately weaken or eliminate the clutter of the shadow formed by the light of other light positions. Usually, a special lighting boom is set up every 3m or so in the depth of the stage boom. The power supply hangs down from the stage ceiling. A wire basket containing cables is arranged in the middle of the boom, and the lamp is hung below the boom. The spotlight lamps at the top of the big backstage are generally installed on the lifting light bridge and the special light boom, which are mainly projected in the middle and rear performance areas of the stage. The lights mounted on the boom sequentially from the eaves curtain to the back of the platform are one light, two light, three light, etc. Among them, the top light of the platform entrance is located on the upper edge of the building's platform entrance, close to the light position behind the large background, also known as "a top light" and "false platform entrance top light". The basic lighting should be connected with the surface lighting. The lighting method should also be unified with the surface lighting. The lamp also takes into account the special lighting of the performance area, such as key light, special effect light, light pursuit, etc. The top light of the orchestra pit shines vertically from top to bottom at the top of the orchestra pit, as the stage lighting in front of the curtain after the orchestra pit rises.

footlight

Footlight is a strip light mounted on the lip of the outer stage of the curtain. The light is projected upward from the stage to the actor's face or is used to illuminate the lower part of the curtain after closing. Generally use strip floodlights or low Angle spotlights.

Before the electric light source was introduced into the theater, oil lamps, candles, gas lamps and other light sources were installed on the lip floor as the main lighting position for performance lighting, which can also be said to be the first lighting position of the early frame stage.

The plane painting or curtain decoration hanging above the pre-performance area can be projected from below by the platform foot light (concentrated light or astigmatism); Table mouth and foot light is usually good for the curtain lighting effect.

The artificial trace of this light effect is heavy and should not be used alone, unless the special environment and special requirements.

backlighting

Backlight beams fall on an actor's head and shoulders, allowing the actor to stand out from the background.

The light relative to the viewer's position is called the backlight, at an Angle of 180°. This light is often used to show silhouettes of objects or people.

Backlight is generally used to outline the outline lines, separate the subject or person from the background, resulting in a sense of spatial depth, and the picture effect is not stiff, and has a vibrant feeling.

Awning light

Skylight light is divided into two types: sky light and ground light. The projection methods include forward casting, reverse casting and reverse casting.

Sky light, from the top down to illuminate the sky, is generally installed in the boom several sets of high-power floodlights. Some fixed configuration of several colors suitable for the sky (such as dark blue, turquoise blue, green, light blue, purple, etc.), some according to the needs of the play.

In some large and medium-sized theaters, the ceiling light is in the form of a suspension bridge, which is equipped with a large number of floodlights, while the suspension bridge is also equipped with projection slides and special effects lights.

The lamp adopts strip combination or single lamp combination, which can be installed into one row or two rows. The row can also be divided into upper and lower levels, and its lighting requirements are balanced and uniform, and it is specially used for overhead shooting as sky scenery lighting.

Floor lighting, placed on the front of the ceiling board or a special trench in the sky ceiling for overhead lighting. It can be used to show horizon, horizontal line, sunset, etc., usually used in conjunction with sky lamps to make color changes richer.

Follow the light

Light tracking can adjust the size of the aperture, color, light and dark, virtual and real functions.

In the performance with the actor moving at the same time to strengthen the lighting brightness, improve the audience's attention, to achieve the actor half, whole body, long distance, small range of local lighting. Sometimes light tracing can be used to create an abstract, illusory feeling.

The position of light tracing can be set in the front and both sides of the second floor of the auditorium, and can also be placed in the two sides of the stage performance area and the rear of the position required by the shape, or there is a closed special light tracing room set up in the top ceiling of the auditorium and the back of the auditorium.

Special effect light

Special effect light generally refers to the effects of the sun, moon and stars, wind and rain, lightning, flashlight light in the scene, or prop lights, that is, oil lamps, candles, electric lamp effects, or specific strong light areas in the picture. The specific location depends on the performance space structure and performance conditions.
